Rowena “Ro” Webb (they/she) is a freelance percussionist and dance collaborator based out of the Greater Zion/Southern Utah area. Ro is in their 4th year with the Utah Tech University Dance Program working as Staff Accompanist and Dance Program Composer-in-Residence. Classes they have worked in include Modern Dance I, II, and III/IV along with Ballet III/IV plus teaching the “Music for Dance” course. Previously they had worked as the first Drumline Instructor for the inaugural iteration of the Utah Tech University “Roar of the Red Rocks” Marching Band. They then became the first Director of Athletic Bands, overseeing the growth of the Marching Band, Pep Band, Drumline and creation of the Color Guard. 

Outside Utah Tech, they can be found performing and collaborating with organizations such as the Rebel Jazz Band, St George Jazz All-Stars, St George Chamber Singers, Lieto Voices, Southern Utah Heritage Choir, St George Dance Company and Tuacahn Center for the Arts. Ro has also been a featured performer as part of Lex de Azevedo’s Easter Cantata “Hosana”. Along with de Azevedo, they have worked alongside world class musicians such as Sal Lozano, David Archeleta, David Park, and Morgan James. Similarly Ro has worked alongside and collaborated with renown dancers and choreographers including Douglas Nielsen and Lily Balogh. 

Ro is a believer in new music and has written 4 compositions for various Utah Tech dance collaborations in recent years. They have also premiered multiple concertos in the same time frame such as Cyril Plante’s 1st and 2nd timpani concertos and Plante’s marimba concerto. Ro has collaborated on and composed recent new dance works and has been featured as a soloist with Utah Tech University Orchestra, Symphony Band, Southwest Symphony, St George Dance Company and the Utah Tech Dance Department.
